Losar is the Tibetan word, where “Lo” means “year” and “Sar”
means “New” so Losar holds "new year". It celebrated on the eve of
the last night of the year. Losar is the most important festival in Tibet as
well as in Nepal also Losar is also celebrated by Yolmo, Sherpa, Tamang,
Gurung, and Bhutia etc. The ethnic group Gurung people called Tamu, those are
indigenous people of Nepal, who lives in the mountain region are influence form
Tibet. During Losar festival, Gurung peoples visit Buddhist shrines on that
day.

Losar is celebrated on every year in the month of December or January. Gurung
men wear bhangra, a white cloth shirt-like apparel tied across the chest and
open like a bag at the back (for carrying things), and a kachhad, like a short
sarong or kilt. Gurung women, both children and adolescents, are seen in their
maroon velvet ghalek (blouses), enhanced by large gold earrings and
